YES, I AM A PROUD HINDU

I would loved to be called as Human being or may be a Proud Indian, but some people provoke me to be called as a Hindu or may be a Proud Hindu ! YES! I am a Hindu, but not a fanatic. I respect all religions, I expect others to respect my Religion also. One of my friends, started criticising Hinduism.

' Thousands of Gods in your religion..it is totally confusing'.

He kick started the argument.

'We know that there is only one God, "Ekam Brahma. dvithiya naste neh na nasthe kinchan" is what Brahma Sutra says, which means “There is only one God, not the second; not at all, not at all, not in the least bit.” I told him.

'Then you are not following your own scriptures..that is wrong' was his counter.

'My dear friend do you know the beauty of Hinduism? My religion does not dictate terms..it gives you options instead.'

Yajurveda says "Na tasya Pratima asti" means there is no image of Him. But my religion also allows me to worship God in any form.
My religion gives me the freedom to worship God in the way I want to worship.

'Bhava' is an important word in Hinduism. 'Bhava' is nothing but feeling. My religion wants us to be connected with divine.
My religion simplifies the procedure. God is there not only to protect or help us, God is there to be loved..God is there to be felt.

If you love your father, love God like your father. If you love your mother, love God like your mother. If you love your child, love him like your child. Your feelings will  be intensified when you feel him like whom you love the most in this world.' I replied.

'That means you Hindus keep on changing your religious texts, by which  you are insulting your original scripts' he asked.

'No..It allows you to update! Every thing will change in this world. Religious texts believed that the earth is in the centre and sun is moving around earth, can you buy that now? As the  technology is advancing there is a need to update every thing including religion. That doesn't mean that you are rejecting or insulting your religion.'

He changed the topic. 'What about Manu smrithi, I can quote few lines from that which are inhuman.'

I got little irritated not because it was a right question but because it was irrelevant. I told him ' I want to take good things from all religions.  I want the essence, I want the cream!  If you want to find fault, you can find fault in each and everything. Forget it, now listen to me. I want to tell you why I am a proud Hindu..

My religion says  "Sarve Janah Sukhino Bhavantu"
means let every one be happy, my religion does not say let only our people be happy.

My religion says  "Yatra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra Devatah.." means God will be pleased where women are respected.

My religion teaches me to respect and worship nature.

My religion teaches me to respect my parent, to respect my teacher.

Do you want to hear more about my religion?' I asked him.

'Before that, I want ask you one more question.. what about Caste system in your religion? Do you endorse that?' He asked.

I said 'I don't  accept discrimination in any form. What is caste system? do you know what it is ?

The argument continued... I will write about it in my next post..

WHY MEDITATION ?

Meditation is concentration or focusing or emptying your thoughts.
You do physical exercises to tone up your body, Meditation is there to tone up your mind.
It is like emptying your mind or focusing on one thing, either way it is concentration.

Hectic schedules...stressful day`s work ....why again stress or strain your mind to focus or concentrate?
It is the opposite. It is not that you are stressing out more, it is that.. you are relaxing !!.
It is always difficult to concentrate..but still if you master the technique of focusing it helps you in your real life too.Whether you are a theist or an atheist, it is irrelevant!

What is to concentrate?
If you are a theist concentrate on the God you believe, if you are an atheist you can concentrate on any thing. Before meditating better concentrate on your breathings....inhale slowly and feel the positive energy as you are breathing in...exhale slowly pushing the negative energy out, as you are breathing out.

Mind is always wandering...let it be, but slowly ask your mind to calm down. If you are disturbed with unwanted thoughts, set them aside..give all those unwanted thoughts a bench to sit and cool down, but you keep on concentrating on one focus point

How to Meditate?
First and foremost requirement is  'sthira sukham asanam' that is a comfortable position..a posture you can sit or lie down for hours together.
Close your eyes to disconnect yourself from the visions of outer world. Observe your breath..just concentrate on your breath. Relax!!
If you are a theist pray your God, ask the divine to help you to concentrate. If you are an atheist ask your mind to help you.
Now try to move your attention towards the middle of your eyebrow, just concentrate there and relax.
Meditate  only when you feel the time is appropriate for you. Make sure you are relaxed and comfortable. Choose a convenient  place too.

Meditation techniques.
when you try to concentrate on one particular thing, you realize it is not that easy! Your mind keeps on flooding with different thoughts. Numerous techniques  are there to help you. I shall explain you a technique which I practiced.
Thrataka
Take a small lamp. Light it and see that the flame is blue and small. Let the meditation room be small and calm. Close all the windows and door, no light should enter the room. Let it be pitch dark. Now concentrate on the flame without closing your eyes. The eyelids will become heavier and heavier. Still hold it and try not to close it. Don`t bother about tears.
At one stage, eyelids will become so heavy they close automatically. Then visualize the blue flame with eyes closed. The shape of the flame may vary. Just keep on concentrating the flame. Practice daily. After few weeks, you will realize that your concentration has improved.
Later you can try visualizing different objects after closing your eyes. Visualize each and every detail of the object you are visualizing. If you are a theist, you can visualize your God and feel that you are with him. Soon you will be the Master of this technique.

I shall explain you the benefits of Meditation in my future write ups.

Note :  Thrataka Technique not only helps you to concentrate but also improves your eye sight.

Heal yourself without Medicine..

'Headache'
'Take a tablet.. It only costs you a penny.'
Hey, wait a minute, your body knows how to heal. It's not the question of a penny, but it's about not allowing your body to do it's job.
The moment something goes wrong in your body, your body automatically starts repairing it.By taking medicine for each and every small problem, you are not allowing your body to function on its own. By using Mind Power you can optimize the body mechanism.
Believe me, you can cure most of the diseases on your own.
Whenever you have fever, headache, joint pain.... Try this.
Give complete rest to your body. Don`t do any work. Don`t watch TV. Don`t even sign in to your social network accounts. Sometimes that may be more stressful.
Drink ample amount of water to keep the metabolism in order. Keep a strict control on your diet. Take only light or liquid food that is easily digestible.
The next and most important step is to use the powers of Mind. Your thinking process helps you a lot to recover from illness. You should have a positive mindset. You should believe that you can heal it by yourself.
I was affected by Gangrene (a small extra growth of flesh with decomposed body tissues) on my wrist. Our family doctor Dr. Krishnamurthy diagnosed it.He told my mother that it can be removed by a minor operation.Unwilling this, I decided to get rid of the gangrene using Mind power.

How to use the Mind power?

Keep telling this to your self  'I am going to come out of this illness. My mind with its power is going to heal. Yes, I am feeling better and better'. Keep on repeating the suggestion while you relax. This works.
Another interesting method which I follow most of the time is visualizing energy. I used this technique to burn my gangrene.
It is  a simple exercise in which you need to have a relaxed state of mind and body. Let me explain the technique now.
Supposing you have severe headache and want to get rid of it using mind power...
Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Breathe slowly for about 2-3 minutes. Keep your right hand on your chest. Now breathe in slowly. While breathing in, imagine your heart is filled with bright light which is a powerful healer.
Now hold your breath and imagine that you are transferring the light from your heart to the hand.  Now slowly take out your right hand and keep it on your head. While doing this imagine that you are carrying the powerful light in your hand. Keeping your hand on your head  breath out slowly. While breathing out imagine that you are transferring the light from your hand to your head. Try to visualize the 'inside' of your head is filled with the powerful light. repeat this for 8-10 times. Then relax and sleep. When you get up you experience a fresh feel.which has long waived off the headache.
The stronger you imagine and visualize, the greater will be the result.
